The transporters are controlled via a radio controlled HMI interface and have 16 specially manufactured  rubber wheels capable of manoeuvring the units under load across semi smooth floors and slopes.  They are fully inverter controlled and have anti collision fitted for added safety.

Pelloby, based in Telford UK, has been designing and manufacturing a wide range of safe and reliable lifting and materials handling products since 1968.

This role will require you to be an experienced ‘people’ manager, responsible for the day to day running of our Service Department and its profitability. Along with this you will be responsible for all operational matters as well as quoting/estimating client management within your department.

Your background ideally will be working within the lifting industry.  You will need to be an accomplished manager, and display awareness of employees needs, training, motivation and discipline. The role will be largely office based with some site work, site supervision and hands on support as required, which may include overseas assignments. To be successful you will need to be a very driven person, with a strong character.

You will need to demonstrate versatility; as within this role you will be a salesman in a customer-facing role, along with juggling operational and man management responsibilities.

You will need to have specific lifting and lifting equipment experience relating to heavy plant.

Ideally you will have the following experience –

• Engineering background or trade
• Mechanical and/or Electrical experience or training
• Lifting equipment, services and general products (Including Cranes, Hoist, Winches, Automatic equipment and below the hook tackle)
• Man management experience
• Branch / Office Management experience

Most roles in Lifting Industry can be quite open as far as ‘experience needed’ is concerned. However because of the nature of the Lifting industry this role does require that you have had some direct experience in ‘lifting’ and plant type products, equipment and systems.  If you do not have this background we will not be able to put you forward for this role.

Following the success of the Automated Autoclave Door Handling System at Airbus UK, Pelloby has been successful in obtaining an order for a similar but much larger system which is destined for Japan. The system will be installed at a Mitsubishi factory where they will be manufacturing wings for the Boeing 777. The autoclave door is approximately 8 metres in diameter and weighs 32 Tonnes.

Pelloby has recently installed a full portal crane in the packing department of a large manufacturing company in the south of England. There is little headroom available and the access door for is on the side of the building, making it impossible to install an overhead crane and gantry.

A conventional portal or semi-portal crane would have required expensive foundation works for in-floor rails and gantry columns. This unique Portal Crane runs directly on the floor on one side and is guided by a floor mounted beam on the other. No foundations are required. The crane is operated by a divorced pendant control, has a very short headroom wire rope hoist unit and has inverter driven, worm box drives on the long travel. For personnel safety, a flashing light and audible warning operate when the crane is being used and emergency stop buttons are fitted to each leg section.

Pelloby has installed three single girder overhead cranes and a free-standing gantry at RAF Wittering. The cranes have a safe working load of 5 Tonnes and a span of 41.3 metres. They operate on a free-standing gantry that is 69 metres long and 6.5 metres from floor to the rail.

The cranes have inverter drives on all motions to give infinitely variable speeds via proportional joysticks on the radio control systems. The hoists are fitted with conition monitoring units to optimise the cranes performance and service schedules. Infra-red anti-collision units are fitted to each crane to ensure that they cannot collide.

Pelloby had originally supplied an overhead crane and gantry system into this major car component manufacturer for lifting injection moulding tools. There are two lines of plastic injection moulding machines each serviced by three 2 Tonne SWL single girder cranes running on a gantry system suspended from the roof.

The gantry and roof loadings limited the operation of the cranes to one in each gantry span. This was acheived by anti-collision units which were set so that the cranes would always be a minimum of 6 metres apart. The customer now has a requirement to lift and turn tools up to 3 Tonnes in weight and wanted a new 4 Tonne crane to run on the same gantry.

It was impossible to uprate the gantry to suit the heavier loadings, without severe disruption to the production, so Pelloby installed a special crane to ensure that the loads were distributed over two gantry spans – in keeping with the original design parameters. For turning the tools the crane has two 4 Tonne SWL chain hoists fitted with a load summation system to ensure that the crane and gantry structure cannot be overloaded.
